Frequently Asked Questions

How are appointments conducted? What is the structure?

Appointments are conducted via telehealth and may be either done by confidential, HIPAA-compliant phone or videoconference.

The structure of our work will be determined based on what works best for you and your unique problems.  I offer a complimentary 15 minute initial consultation.  During that time, we can discuss your your questions or concerns and collaboratively decide how to proceed. Typical sessions are 45 minutes in length but we can discuss if something better might meet your needs.. A potential component of the consultation may include review of assessments, health records, or other relevant documents.

What are your fees?

My fee for a 45 minute, 1:1 appointment is $185. A complimentary 15 minute initial consultation is available for all services.  Group fees vary based on length, duration, and scope of group. Fees may be adjusted or prorated based on type, duration, and scope of service.   We will discuss fees directly in our initial consultation. Fee transparency is important, so if you have questions, please ask. All major credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) are accepted. Some people may have the option to pay for services with their Health Savings Account.  Payment is made electronically and is due at time of service.

Do you accept insurance?

I am not in-network with any insurance companies.  Depending on the specific scope of services you are receiving, your insurance plan may provide coverage for out-of-network benefits. This means that you are responsible for the fee at the time of our appointment, but depending on the work we are doing together, your insurance company may provide reimbursement for a portion of the fee.  I can provide you with documentation to submit to your insurance company to file for reimbursement.  I encourage you to inquire with your insurance company about out-of-network benefits.

What geographical areas do you serve?

Conducting appointments through telehealth allows for geographical flexibility.  I am a licensed provider in New York State, which means that I am authorized to provide psychotherapy anywhere in New York.  Professional consultation, coaching, or presentations are not restricted by location. If you have questions about this, please email me at jcahalan@drjacquelinecahalan.com or call:

How do I find out if you can help me?
