Applying Compassionate Parenting to Ourselves First

Writer: Dr. Jacqueline CahalanDr. Jacqueline Cahalan

When we think about “Compassionate Parenting,” what if we expanded our mindset to apply it to ourselves first? It can be really hard to show up and be calm and present with your children when they are having big feelings and needs. What if we first tried to offer ourselves gentleness for wherever we are at, and then tried to show up for our kids as our imperfect selves the best that we can?

If this is a struggle for you, reach out to me and let’s chat.  You can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself first can not only make parenting a more enjoyable and empowering experience for you. That self-care flows downstream and can help you create a more supportive and nurturing environment for your children as well.
